1Cavity wall insulation is a fantastic way to significantly reduce the amount of energy you need to heat your home. The average house could reduce heating costs by 15%. What is a cavity wall?

2The external wall of a house is constructed of two masonry (brick or block) walls, with a cavity (gap) of at least 50mm between the two walls. Metal ties join the walls together.

Is my house suitable?

3Before the cavity wall installation, we will have one of our qualified surveyors arrange a day and time to call around and do an inspection on your home. This will normally take around 30 minutes; he will then be able to determine to weather your house is suitable.

Does the Technician have to come into the house?

4The Technician must undertake checks before and after the cavity wall installation, including any heating appliances, so it is essential that they have access to the inside of your property. Apart from these checks, all the remaining work is carried out from the outside.

How long will it take to insulate my home?

5Cavity wall insulation will normally take between 3-4 hours to insulate a home; this will depend on the size of the property.

My house is joined to another house, how do they stop the filling going into their cavity?

6Installing cavity wall insulationAssuming your neighbor’s house is not already insulated, the Technician will insert a cavity barrier at the party wall line. This is usually a bristle brush barrier. Of course, if your neighbor’s house is insulated at the same time, the cavity barrier is not needed.

Is there much mess?

7The drilling process inevitably creates a little dust, which will be cleared at the completion of the job. It may be wise to remove vehicles from the drive and any items that are close to the walls. This will also give the Technician better access for equipment and tools.

How much does cavity wall insulation save?

8Cavity wall insulation saves about 35% of your heat loss or on average £100 to £200 per year on your fuels bills. Up to 35% of our heat is lost through un insulated walls.
